Mushroom mania takes NYC
It started with this Hermes scarf I came across on Ebay. And then there was the woman crossing the street at 90th and Madison with the unreal mushroom patterned almost Hawaiian shirt (she was hard to miss!)

Then I saw this antique (1894) print…

… followed by fabulous French stamps

followed by vintage Czechoslovakian buttons…

and the yummy French chocolate cards…

Followed by somewhat startling mushroom posters…

… and then 1970s Japanese salt and pepper shakers (cute!!)

and finally back to scarves, this time Gucci!

The mushrooms are great! While going through the stuff of 30 years after moving out of our house in Vermont, I found something that I cut out of a magazine from the 70’s that did the same thing with pansies. The flower was on trays, scarves, wall paintings, etc. When I found it, I thought to myself- Why aren’t people doing this today and there you are doing just that with mushrooms. Bravo!

I love those French cards. If you want to have complete mushroom overload, journey down to southeastern PA…I live in the Mushroom Capital of the World: Kennett Square. We even have an annual mushroom festival each september. The upside is that portobellos are super cheap. The downside is the horrific smell of manure wafting from the mushroom houses!

I love themed festivals! Sounds really cool, and no doubt I’d see a few more mushroom themed items! Abbey
