Nightime window display

Tim and I had a yummy dinner at Niche (1593 2nd Ave) which is cousin to our favorite Bar Etats-Unis and then had a leisurely stroll home. On a side street we passed this lovely window display, beautifully lit, right? The store, L. Becker ( 217 E 83rd Street, 3rd & 2nd), is a florist, and I can’t wait to go back and check it out.

I’ve never commented here before, but seeing this post, I must! I live just across the street from this store, L. Becker. I’ve endlessly googled it to no avail, have swooned each time I’ve walked by it over the past four years, and have eagerly awaited its discovery by the design blogosphere. Accordingly, hooray for your find! The window displays often evolve, but whatever arrangements may appear — and due, in equal parts, I believe, to both their composition and their lighting –they never fall short of being visually arresting. Unfortunately, though, the store doesn’t seem to be open very often and I’ve never tried to go inside, for fear that it might be closed to the public. I have seen the proprietor outside on the weekends, watering his ferns in moss-laden clay pots, but design amateur that I am, I haven’t summoned the courage to approach him. I do hope you will, however, and that you’ll report back to your readers!

You got it Danielle! Thanks for your lovely comment — I totally understand how intimidating these types of places can be! A certain design shop of madison makes me feel the same way.
