Genius Alphabet Bags

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

I love these alphabet bags for $15 plus shipping… I just think they are beautiful, simple, graphic.  Via Cup of Jo (a genius herself).

Let the sun shine in

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

I saw this beautiful lamp at Design Public and it is just warming up my Tuesday. Hope everyone had good weekends. Mine was packed in the best way: In addition to a yummy dinner of whole wheat lasagna with Joanna and Alex and checking out a new restaurant, I was also thrilled to meet up with Anne for a brunch and design conversation!

Happy Weekend

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

I took an unplanned mini-blogging break yesterday (hung out with my sister, worked on the baby quilt, had dinner with friends) but I’ll be back next week.

In the meantime, I’ll be dreaming of green courtyards and cobalt blue planters.

Lily Pad Lovin’

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Holy Lily Pad! It’s almost hideous, but, I’m in love.

Let’s Dance

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

I spied this video over at Even Cleveland earlier today and it had just been stuck in my head.  I love the black and white, the argyle sweater, the dancing fingers, the Paris-ness of it all.  I’ve never seen this movie, but I love the dancing so so so so much.

Year of Flowers: 22

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

This week’s bouquet looks at bit like Valentine’s Day in September — it’s roses, snapdragons and star of Jerusalem.

Caroline’s New View

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Caroline over at My Pocket just moved into a beautiful new home with a beautiful new view. Lovely!

Peacefully now

Loving this peaceful image from Barbra Ziemer, merci x2 Black Effiel!

Best Friends Forever

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

My mother is mine!  See all of them over at Smitten.

Cardboard House

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

I would have loved this cardboard house as a child.  My cool mama lived in SOHO before it was SOHO and at the door of her converted loft a homeless man lived in a refrigerator box.  She was glad he was there, as it made her feel safer (she and her roommate were friendly enough with the man and gave him food and blankets).  I remember hearing this story when I was young and worrying about a man who had to live in a refrigerator box (how did he keep warm in the winter, I wondered), but, also being a little envious in that child-like way that sees everything difficult as an adventure.  (merci for the great site Black Eiffel)

A little weekend DIY

Friday, September 19th, 2008

This is one of my favorite DIY projects I’ve seen in a while and a really nice way to personalize cheap frames (and use up that fabric stash!).  I’d love to do this with IKEA wooden frames and rad vintage fabric (or wallpaper, actually).   Someday I’ll get around to doing this….. Has anyone tried this?  Any tips?

Happy Friday

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Happy Friday!  I’d like to sit on this porch in the sun  (via Elle Decor) and read all the magazines that are piling up in my house. What are your big plans of the weekend?  I’ll be chillin’ with my mom.

In keeping with the fantasy theme

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

I’m also loving this house and formal garden (from Elle Decor?).  My mother always says you need to know what you want to get it….

Kitchen Fantasy

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

This is one of my favorite images.  I LOVE the tree branch and the light.  And the composition of the photo too, I think.  I wouldn’t want this kitchen (it looks really difficult to keep clean) but I’d like to spend the weekend here.  In my fantasy, this is a beach house and I could come in for a drink with sand on my feet.  SIGH.

An Ode to the Saltine

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

I’ve always loved saltines — as a child my favorite treat was “nachos” made by baking Cabot cheddar cheese onto saltines. Simply one of the most delicious things you can eat. Salt, cheese, crunch. When I worked my corporate job with insane hours, I was never without a package of saltines in my desk.

While I no longer can indulge in “nachos” the way I once could, and I thankfully don’t need to eat a package of saltines as dinner at my desk anymore, I love this necklace found via Sometimes Dresses, Sometimes Jeans. Delicious.
