An Ode to the Saltine

I’ve always loved saltines — as a child my favorite treat was “nachos” made by baking Cabot cheddar cheese onto saltines. Simply one of the most delicious things you can eat. Salt, cheese, crunch. When I worked my corporate job with insane hours, I was never without a package of saltines in my desk.

While I no longer can indulge in “nachos” the way I once could, and I thankfully don’t need to eat a package of saltines as dinner at my desk anymore, I love this necklace found via Sometimes Dresses, Sometimes Jeans. Delicious.

what a creative piece of jewelry. saltines make me cringe after attempting to eat 6 in a minute far too many times. take my advice and don’t try it if someone offers you a bet, it never works!

This is adorable! Quirky yes, but I still love it. I’ve been hunting for the perfect charm/pendant necklace forever… I’ll have to check out this Web site. Thanks!

Mmm…but eating an entire sleeve of saltines in one sitting is one of life’s little pleasures, isn’t it?

I love this. When I was little, before I knew of such a concept as the calorie, I loved saltine and butter sandwiches. You should not try them if you have never had them because they are freakishly good. I gave them up cold turkey ages ago, but every time I see I saltine, I reminisce.

    Oh, those were the days!

That is a very cute necklace. I’ve received a similar random charm necklace myself: a silver atlas bone (your first spinal vertebrae). Don’t ask! lol

@ Stephanie…I can second the saltine/butter combo. Don’t try it if you haven’t already.

this made me laugh out loud- i also used to partake in the butter/saltine combo (and have the booty to show for it), but i’d eat mine with tea. what a sophisticated late-night treat for a kid, huh?

    enjoying your blog…thank you!
