Five Years: One Rad Diary

Hi hi! I’m really here! We had a great weekend: 1920’s cabaret at the Neue Gallery, 1930’s Depression Party, followed by a trip to IKEA with burgers in Red Hook, Chelsea Garden Center, and last but not least the New York Hall of Science in Queens. Oh and I’m working on my thesis proposal due in three weeks!

To keep track of it all yesterday as I browsed the MOMA store in SOHO I found this perfect 5 year journal — you can start on any date and there is only a line or two of space for every year — perfect for me since while I like to remember what I’ve done, I hate the blank page of a journal. And of course I was a sucker for the redwood tree imagery on the cover given my newfound obsession with redwoods.  PS the redwoods icon comes off — its just a paper wrapper.

Oh that is a one good diary! Excellent for a thesis too, to keep track of yourself and plans that go over the length of a year :) Good luck with your proposal, Kate.

That is a lovely cover for a diary. I have used a few of those over the years, just a small amount of space to write the odd thing down in…the wonder of going back to it in 5 years time and reading what you were up to, it’s a lovely thing!

Any chance you can take a photo of the inside of the diary? I checked on the MoMA website but they don’t show the inside pages.

I HAVE one of these! Crazy! I’ve been doing it for over 2 years now and I love it. I couldn’t agree more about the blank-page-intimidation of a regular journal. This one is perfect (and the proof is in the fact that this is definitely my all-time journaling streak).

i just got this recently too! i LOVE it. it forces me to be more concise versus rambling (totally useful on emotional days!). and it’s so much smaller then i would have expected - fabulous.

I couldn’t find a cute 5-yr journal in Jan 2004 and had to make my own. I’m so excited that I am just about to finish that one…so your timing of this post was perfect! Thank you!

That’s beautiful and perfect! I can never ever consistently journal (and now blog) since I just get so lazy about it.

Now I just have to brave the dangers of entering the MoMA store.
