New Apartment Inspiration: For the Office

inspiration for the office

This galley office and

this FLOR tile carpet found via the Dooce are inspiring our new office space.

Here is the office/baby’s room before we moved in…

… and here is a “under constuction” shot that shows off the results of yesterday’s labors.  The baby’s room will be on the left and our office on the right. I will need to worry about “baby proofing” but in the near term, this will do!  I’m planning on putting FLOR tiles as “wall to wall” in the office and on adding another Ikea bookcase to really finish defining the office space.  Then, I think that two long narrow shelves above the desks will look great.

Here’s another photo shelf from new to me blog Loving Living Small…. delicious!

hey. thanks for stopping by my blog!! i can’t wait to see the finished apartment…or even just the slow transformation if that’s what it takes. i have a 4 year old so i know there will be a period of time when this blogging thing is going to take a bit of a backseat for you. :)

I think it looks like it is shaping up nicely – I love long, low shelves above a desk (or just about anywhere).

I can’t wait to see the finished product!

I second that WOW. In just two weeks you have created a cozy office. You are right to create an office space near the baby so you can blog while the baby sleeps and not be always worried about how the baby is doing. Something that new mothers can not avoid. The divider is great by giving you a sense of privacy and the added bonus of storage! I know you said that you could see your furniture in this new apartment when you were apartment hunting but I never imagined that you would use the IKEA storage unit this way. BRAVO!

Oooh, it’s slowly coming together! Love the FLOR tiles. I can’t wait to see what the baby’s half of the room will look like. I have a feeling a cozy rocker might sneak into the place of your desk chair when baby arrives. :)

Abs – what Ikea shelf did you use? I think that is exactly what I have been looking for! And btw – you have done some awesome nesting thus far! I love those Flor tiles! So chic!

Totally what I have in mind for our office/kitchen. We dont have a divider though but i’m working on a work space on a big long wall and have shelves and artwork. Now i just have to paint!

I think that’s the Ikea Expedit right? We just got one for our living room. I’ll have to remember to think of using it as a room divider too when we get around to having a little wee one. Then we wouldn’t have to move again.

Great inspiration! Can’t wait to see it when it’s done…

BTW, I love orange in workspaces. What’s up with that? Does it make me feel energized? Creative? Something.
