From Martha Stewart Living

Habitually Chic posted an amazing round up of kitchens with open shelves … I’ve been lusting after a brand new space where I could have a brand new open air kitchen. PS Sorry if images are a little wacky on this site recently. I upgraded to Wordpress 2.5 and am still working out the bugs (the major one being I can’t upload photos). If you see a big white square with a tiny red x in the corner instead of a photo, right click on it and choose “view photo” … you should then be able to see whatever it is I’m currently yaking about.

The gray chairs in this lovely apartment (belonging to Deborah Needleman of Domino!) have been on my mind recently. I love the laid back, elegant color gray and the sweetly feminine style of the chairs. I’d love to find this fabric — anyone know what it might be? PS the rest of the apartment is fantastic and full of inspiration for real living. I love the matching rugs, the firewood and the love settee, too.
I love this little summer house — the green vintage table, the red door, the tiny sweet bird door stop. Check out sweet blog 36 Shea for more pictures. Found via Poppytalk, where Jill has some amazing pillows for sale.
So do we like the wide wooden planks here? I think I say hot. via Desire to Inspire, from interior designers BAMO.

From the 1980s no less. I’d like a g&t with extra lime and a cool bath to soak my feet in right about now. From the geniuses over at Desire to Inspire.

Remember this post on using firewood to fill your non-working fireplace? Well, I recently tried something that is a little bit less of a commitment (I mean, what would you do with all that wood if it somehow didn’t workout? Certainly not burn it!). I stuck one of my planters from the balcony in the fireplace in the bedroom (see picture below) and I am pretty pleased with the effect. It’s not overwhelming and it warms up the room by bringing a tiny bit of nature indoors! The planter is from Home Depot and while it looks like cast iron, it is secretly (genius-ly) made from lightweight and inexpensive plastic. The beautiful planter of orchids and maidenhair ferns up top is from Martha Stewart Living in 2007.

Somehow I feel like this room was a compromise. He said, you get the red Chippendale lauquer dinning set and I get the trout prints. Via Tim Lee Photography.

Loving this vignette from a Design*Sponge sneak peek…. I love the table, the coral on a stand print and then the starfish on a stand. Lovely.

I’m digging these black settees found in Domino Magazine via Desire to Inspire…. anyone know where to find one in real life? I’d love something this size in my bedroom!

What a perfect light in this kitchen via the Style Files. I would love to throw long relaxed summer dinners here, with the doors open to the patio.

I’m a bit behind in my blogland reading, and slowly catching up, so I’m just now seeing this entry way over at Design*Sponge (from April!). It’s a DIY project too which is very cool. I’d like to do this in bright hunter green, maybe only on one wall so it isn’t overwhelming. I love the yellow accents here too. and the oval mirror. So stylish.

One of the funny things about living in NYC long enough is that you start living very compactly and truly appreciate anything that lets you get more storage out of your space. This post from Apartment Therapy LA made me envious — A secret laundry compartment, love it!
I came across this interior via the New York Times real estate section, and while it not the most glamorous interior I’ve ever posted, it is an authentic one. I like: the gallery wall, the velvet sofa, the arm chair. The wall mounted air conditioner is a little funky, yes.
Our weekend: relaxing in Boston with family, seeing friends, shopping at Costco, making it back to NYC in under 3 hours.

A friend sent me this link to Drew Berrymore’s office kitchen via the Domino Galleries. I’d LOVE to have an office with a kitchen like this, heck, I’d love to have this kitchen in my HOME.
I like: the chandelier, the green walls, the checked floor, the long “farm house” table and cafe chairs. Oh, and of course, the light.
